We all love a bargain and the good news is updating your share house doesn’t have to be expensive.
With a bit of selective browsing, clever shopping and the odd bit of DIY, you can regularly refresh your space for less.
1. Get a second hand bargain online
eBay and Gumtree aren’t just for selling those dud Christmas presents you never wanted. You can buy (and sell) plants, furniture, fridges, freezers, washing machines, homewares, TVs, electronic goods, gardening equipment and more.
2. Get that vintage look at your local op-shop
Vintage style pieces are not always that easy to come by, but op-shops and second hand stores are full of homewares, crockery and furniture from different style periods.

3. Style hacks for under $100
Affordable homeware brands like Target, Kmart and Ikea have inspired legions of fans to create style hacks through creative uses for everyday products. Here are some of our favourite bargain home style hacks:

It won’t help your street cred, but you’d be surprised at what this bargain store now offers.
There’s a huge range of homewares items, including cups, candle holders, small jars, wire baskets and ceramics.
Reject shop style hacks are also a growing hobby for many:

5. Build a rustic veggie patch
Looking to create a herb or vegetable patch that you can take to your next place?
Old milks crates, wooden boxes and vegetable boxes can be easily turned into portable gardens.
It doesn’t cost much, or take long to establish your own herb patch, or grow your own tomatoes or lettuce.
