Two new retail hubs where the offerings will include food, health and wellbeing services are under construction in Melbourne’s outer west.
Developer Stockland has announced that the two separate convenience centres are being built in the Mt Atkinson and Grandview estates, both of which are in the suburb of Truganina, about 14km from Werribee.
Mt Atkinson is expected to eventually become home to about 15,000 residents across roughly 4000 homes.

It’s currently home to 5600 residents who live in 1750 homes.
At present, Grandview has a circa-3200 population but is expected to eventually host about 5500 residents across 1700 homes.
The Mt Atkinson retail centre is slated to include seven or so shops across a 550sq m landholding, alongside a childcare centre with capacity for approximately 110 children.
The retail hub is being built on the corner of Clara Ave and Nile Drive.
When it comes to the Grandview centre, on Altezze Drive between Altar St and Hertali St, its eight tenancies will span food, health and wellbeing services, and specialty retail across an 1800sq m site.
Construction of both centres is expected to be completed in 2027, with future tenants yet to be locked in.

Stockland’s development director Jackie Kent said at the moment, many families living in Grandview and Mt Atkinson were travelling to other nearby locations to do their shopping.
“These new centres will help bring those everyday needs much closer to home,” Ms Kent said.
“For local residents, having everyday services nearby can significantly simplify daily routines, from school drop‑offs and grocery shopping to accessing healthcare.”

Property development, construction and investment group Oreana is delivering the Mt Atkinson centre.
Oreana’s managing director Tony Sass said the hub would meet the needs of a growing community by bringing together food, services and early education.
And property developer and convenience centre owner Right Australia is building the Grandview centre.
Right Australia’s director Kiran Patel said the goal for that centre was to create a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere where residents could grab a coffee, fit in a workout or pick up dinner.

Back in 2017, a concept plan for the development of Mt Atkinson’s future $100m-plus town centre including shops, supermarkets, restaurants, offices, a medical centre and open spaces, was lodged with Melton Council.
This week, a Stockland spokesperson said that the company was not the town centre’s landowner or developer.
However, the spokesperson said that Melton Council had endorsed stage one of the centre’s urban design framework, earlier in 2026.
The approved framework will provide an overarching vision and design direction for the town centre.
“The delivery timing of stage one remains subject to further planning and statutory approvals,” the Stockland spokesperson said.
“We will continue to collaborate closely with all relevant stakeholders to support the planning and staged delivery of the future town centre, where possible.”
Private property consortium Mt Atkinson Holdings is developing the town centre.
