A new Australia Post delivery facility at Kadina that will triple to amount of parcels that can be mailed across the region has opened.
The modern, purpose-built facility replaces a former delivery site and can process up to 2400 parcels per day – more than triple the capacity of the previous site.
It is the first of four new facilities to open across regional South Australia, all of which have been designed to increase the number of parcels it can mail and improve delivery speed as online shopping rises.
Australia Post general manager of network operations Khaled Elkhatib said the site would ensure regional communities continued to get reliable and efficient delivery services as demand grew.

“Online spend in South Australia rose 14 per cent to $5.6 billion last year, according to our latest Annual eCommerce Report,” he said.
“As more people shop online, particularly in regional areas, we’re continuing to invest in our regional network to keep pace with demand and changing customer needs, to deliver a better, more reliable service for our customers into the future.

“Designed to improve safety for our team members, increase capacity and streamline operations, including transport flows, the new facility will help our team get parcels on the road faster and deliver them to our customers as efficiently as possible.
“It will also strengthen our ability to support local businesses, helping them reach more customers and grow through eCommerce,” said Mr Elkhatib.
Owner of sheep shearing clothing business Just Shear Carlie Smith said the new facility would allow the business to grow.

“As a growing rural business, we rely on Australia Post to connect us with customers across the country,” she said.
“It’s fantastic to see the opening of this new facility, making it easier for us to send more products to customers and continue growing while creating more local jobs.”
The site is powered completely by rooftop solar and stored battery energy.
It comes as Australia Post builds a $500m Adelaide Parcel Super Hub, which is expected to open in 2028.
