Piedimonte’s Supermarket & Liquor at 366-368 Bell St, Pascoe Vale South, is for sale.
The iconic Piedimonte’s Supermarket & Liquor has hit the market after 31 years at their Bell St shopfront in Melbourne’s north.
While agents are remaining tight-lipped about the Pascoe Vale South site’s asking price, it comes about 12 months after speculation the family-run business’s Fitzroy North grocery store could also be put on the market.
In September 2025, Yarra Council voted against selling a public laneway the Piedimontes were hoping to acquire in order to proceed with a multistorey redevelopment of their Best St premises.

At the time, the family signalled they would consider selling that store if they could not redevelop it into an updated supermarket, liquor store, apartments and underground parking.
The Piedimontes have been part of Australia’s grocery scene since 1958, when they opened an Italian food store, and now operate under the IGA, or Independent Grocers of Australia, banner.
The Bell St property features three titles spread across a combined 3476sq m land parcel, with two of the titles consisting of a total 73 car parks.
Aston Commercial’s Joshua Colosimo, who has the listing with colleague Fred Nucara, declined to comment on the price tag.
The deli at the supermarket, which has a 30m frontage to Bell St.
Two car parks, at 2-4 Lansdowne St, and Greenwood St, are also being offered for sale.
Mr Colosimo said Piedimontes owned the site and were keen to potentially sell under a lease back arrangement, where an owner offloads an address to another party and then leases it back from them.
However, he added they were pretty flexible if a future owner-occupier wanted to take over the site, as well.
Mr Colosimo said in the first 24 hours the store was listed online, about 45 buyers had been in contact – about half from interstate, mainly NSW.
“We’ve had really good inquiry early from a mix of owner-occupiers, developers and investors,” he added.
Multiple generations of Piedimontes have been involved in the family business.
The supermarket itself is in a Commercial 1 Zone, while the car parks are both in a General Residential Zone.
The marketing copy describes the grocery store as an icon of Melbourne’s north.
“They have been there since 1995 so I’d argue it’s one of the most recognisable buildings in the north and on Bell St,” Mr Colosimo noted.
He said a few larger format retails had already inquired about running their own business from the site.
Expressions of interest close at 3pm on Thursday December 10.
