Stax Burger Co. owner Zaynn Bird is taking on UberEats.
An Adelaide burger business that was kicked off UberEats after standing up to the food delivery giant plans to team up with a competitor.
Stax Burger Co owner Zaynn Bird said they were in talks with another major platform to work out a “customer-focused solution” that would improve their takeaway experience.
“They’ve come to the party and said, ‘we actually want to work with you’,” he said.
“We’re standing really strong.”
Mr Bird said he couldn’t reveal any details yet but hoped to soon.
The Adelaide burger business has been removed from UberEats.
The move comes as the popular eatery, which has restaurants in Prospect and Golden Grove, has been removed from UberEats.
Mr Bird chose to take on the food delivery platform about a month ago by defiantly raising its in-app menu prices to a staggering $500 per item in a bid to encourage customers to collect food in store.
He said it was because the majority of negative feedback from customers was related to long delivery times on orders – or them not arriving at all – which was impacting the quality of the food.

Mr Bird took to social media at the time to inform customers of the radical decision and encouraged customers to stop ordering on the app.
“What we wanted to do is create change for all businesses that use that platform,” Mr Bird said recently.

Since hiking prices up on the app, Mr Bird said he had been communicating with Uber to find a solution but they then terminated the business from the platform altogether.
He told Nine News he has engaged lawyers to better understand his options, maintaining he didn’t breach any agreements he entered into with Uber.
Uber told Nine News it tried to remedy the concerns but Stax Burger Co continued to use its platform in ways that do not support a genuine customer ordering experience.
Uber has been contacted for further comment.
