One of Hobart’s most luxurious hotels has been purchased by an undisclosed buyer.
Davey St’s Islington Hotel hit the market last spring.
Colliers hotels executive Sam Abel said the landmark property attracted strong inquiry and competitive interest throughout the campaign.
“This demonstrated the continued confidence in Tasmania’s premium tourism and lifestyle accommodation sector,” he said.
“The purchaser recognised the exceptional value in acquiring a premium, award-winning asset supported by the momentum within Australia’s tourism sector.”

Mr Abel said interest in the asset was broad, with local, national, and international capital making inquiries.
“The hotel was purchased by a local investor who will continue hotel operations,” he said.
“The sale price is confidential in the public domain at this moment.”
Property records show the award-winning hotel sold in 2021 for $3.5m.
The distinguished Islington Hotel has consistently garnered prestigious accolades, standing as Tasmania’s sole representative in the esteemed Small Luxury Hotels of the World Collection and one of only two Virtuoso properties in the region.

It sits on a generous 3551sq m site within a historic mansion precinct, just 1km from the Hobart CBD.
