The Kuranda Rainforest Market has been operating since 1978
A world famous Aussie tourism icon has hit the market offering retail shops, market stalls, residential units and extensive on-site parking.
Located in the elevated rainforest town of Kuranda near Cairns, the vast commercial holding spans approximately 11,000sq m across three titles, and includes the site of the popular Kuranda Rainforest Markets, a must-do bucket list item for any visitor to the region.
The site spans 13, 5 & 7-11 Therwine Street, Kuranda
This is more than a commercial investment,” marketing agent Sonia Poole of Ray White Cairns, Cairns Beaches and Palm Cove said.
“It is the acquisition of a substantial township landholding within one of Far North Queensland’s most recognised tourism and lifestyle destinations.”
The markets are a popular stop for tourists
The Kuranda Original Raniforest Market is located within World Heritage rainforest.
Located in the rainforest, the market is hotpot of colour
It began from “humble beginnings” in 1978, and was started by a group of local hippy artists and crafts people, according to the website.
The holding is for sale by EOI
“The original marketeers had to pay for the operation of their own train service for two seasons, to prove commercial viability of the service to the Queensland Railway Department,” it says.
“These markets put Kuranda on the map, cementing its reputation as an exotic rainforest destination for local and international visitors.”
There are plenty of dining options
The markets were renovated in 2005 but have not lost their rustic charm, with a strong focus on “organic, recycled, natural, holistic and remedial products”.
